This past Sunday I had our newest little one baptized.  I have to admit, celebrating this sacrament with each of our children has carried a special place in my heart.  It’s such a beautiful way to welcoming them into our church family as a child of God, rich in symbolism and flowing with grace.  I am especially blessed that my dad is a deacon and was able to be part of the ceremony by baptizing our youngest two.

Our family always tries to incorporate a special gifts for our children’s’ baptism to help them remember the special day and I just had to share this beautiful candle I had made for Sunday.

bapismal cande photoDesigned by local artist Gina Switzer, it’s a personalized baptismal candle on which she incorporates the baby’s name, baptism date and church.  Our candle had an image of the Risen Christ, but she offers varying designs for you to choose from.  It not only added a special touch to the baptism, but we are keeping it displayed in the baby’s room as a reminder of the day.  Gina also shared with me that she has made them for her grandchildren and they light them on the anniversary of their baptism and have a small celebration.  I hope to incorporate that into our family life as well!  If you’ve attended one of our conferences in the past, you are familiar with Gina’s work as the large paintings of Jesus, the Blessed Mother and the Creed that beautifully transform our conference area into a place of worship.  If you are looking for a special baptismal gift for your children, grandchildren, or godchildren visit the Gina Rose Studio for more information.
