In the Spirit of Pope Saint John Paul II: Introducing Father Nathan Cromly, CSJ

Today we’d like to share this post written by our friend Nan Balfour, grateful daughter of God, wife, mother, writer, big fan of Father Nathan’s and event coordinator for the Pilgrim Center of Hope, founder of the annual San Antonio Catholic Women’s Conference.

When I met Michele Faehnle, the Columbus Catholic Women’s Conference Co-Chair by phone a few years ago, I immediately liked her! She got in touch with me due to my connection with the San Antonio Catholic Women’s Conference that I coordinate for the Pilgrim Center of Hope.

We have been in regular touch since then to share ideas, seek advice and consult on speaker suggestions. Sharing with Michele the joy of our mutual ministries inspiring women in our unique dignity in Christ, I dreamed of one day attending the Columbus event for women. When Michele let me know that at this year’s event, Father Nathan Cromly, CSJ would be speaking, I booked my flight!

Father Nathan is a favorite at the Pilgrim Center of Hope speaking at two of our Catholic Women’s and Catholic Men’s Conferences over the past few years. What has made him a favorite is his call to promote the teaching of Pope Saint John Paul II, who with his first words as pope, encouraged us not to be afraid. This call for Father Nathan began in 1993, when as a young man of 17, he stood in the presence of the pope at World Youth Day in Denver. It was there he was inspired to discern a vocation to the priesthood that led him to the Community of St. John; a contemplative and apostolic order.

Father Nathan has a particular gift of gently and joyfully inspiring women in our Feminine Genius and unique dignity as beloved daughters of God by encouraging us to live our vocation to womanhood in the everyday moments of our lives.

With his humorous and relatable style, Father Nathan challenges us not to be ashamed of the Gospel. His message is a breath of fresh air to us who seek to do God’s will in this increasingly hostile culture and through our busy, hectic days.

Thanks to my friend, Michele, and the awesome women planning this year’s Columbus Catholic Women’s Conference, you have the opportunity to hear Father Nathan for yourself in just a few weeks! I encourage you to treat yourself to his talk, visit his exhibitor table and get to know this protege of the ‘Woman’s Pope,’ the Great Saint John Paul, II!
