My name is Kate Allwein and I am married to a City of Columbus Firefighter, mother of 6 children (3 of them attend St. Catharine Catholic School) and serve part time spreading the mission of the Christ Medicus Foundation.

I have been involved in this ministry for over a year now.  The Christ Medicus Foundation has 3 pillars.

  • Since the Affordable Care Act was passed many self – insured and self-employed individuals are struggling to purchase health care in good conscience. We are partnered with SMI to offer an alternative to traditional health insurance called CMF CURO that is exempt from the Affordable Care Act, the HHS Mandate and meets the requirement for the Individual Mandate.  This sharing ministry is people of faith coming together to pay and PRAY for one another’s medical bills.  I have seen first hand how this ministry works and has benefitted several individuals and families across the country (including our own native Ohio families). CMF CURO provides excellent care at a significantly lower cost than traditional insurance.
  • The second pillar to the Christ Medicus Foundation (CMF) is the continual work we do in public policy. We work very closely with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the Catholic Medical Association (CMA) and law makers to protect conscience rights religious liberty in health care.  Along with the USCCB, CMF was the architect of the Health Care Conscience Rights Act 9HR. 940, which now has over 200 co-sponsors in the US. House of Representatives. CMF has been a leaders in protecting conscience rights and religious liberty since its inception on 1999.
  • The last pillar is to create a national network of Catholic Primary Care Medical Centers nationwide. We have aligned ourselves with the Religious Sisters of Mercy in Alma, MI, Emmaus Health in Ann Arbor, MI and Bella in Denver, CO.  Our goal is to build a health care culture of “culture of life” in all fifty states.

The article below shares some recent testimonies of individuals involved in the CMF CURO sharing ministry.  To find out more about our ministry, please contact me at [email protected] or at 614-940-4652.
